John Fredericks Park

The name John Fredericks Park is the one most often used, though locals and the local press still call it Sam Sciacca Sportsfield.

The pitch is natural grass, and the presence of the bowls green means the surface has to stay that way regardless of what sport is being played. The capacity is given as 1,000. Recent work involved fitting LED lighting to the perimeter, a project paid for by the Redland City Council, which manages the site.

Capalaba FC, known locally as the Bulldogs, plays its home matches here. The Capalaba Warriors also use the ground for rugby league fixtures, so the week can see two different codes sharing the same turf. There is no record of a former tenant or of any earlier name for the ground. The year the park opened is not confirmed in any reliable source, and no figure for the highest crowd since it began is available.
