Kanazawa Stadium is a fresh structure, one that has not yet had time to gather the dust that settles on older grounds. The ground sits within a larger sports park.

What distinguishes this place is its singular purpose and its timing. Built to replace an older multi-purpose track-and-field stadium, it was designed from the outset for football, meaning the fans sit closer to the action than they ever did before. The pitch is natural grass. The stadium’s official name includes a sponsorship from a curry restaurant group, a detail that is as much a part of its local character as the steel and concrete.

It is a small ground, holding just over ten thousand people, but the design intends for that capacity to grow if the local club, Zweigen Kanazawa, achieves promotion to the top flight.
