What Den Dreef has that most Belgian second-tier grounds lack is a royal name attached late in life. King Power took it over as sponsor after building its reputation elsewhere in the group's football holdings, and the current stand dates from a 2015–2017 rebuild rather than from the ground's founding — the site itself goes back to 1905, when Stade Leuven first used it, long before OH Leuven existed as a club.

The stadium sits tucked into Heverlee, the university quarter of Leuven, on Kardinaal Mercierlaan — a street name that gives away the neighbourhood's academic character more than its footballing one. There is no second senior ground competing for attention in the city; whatever football Leuven has at this level, it happens here.

The pitch itself runs on a hybrid surface, a reinforced turf increasingly common at clubs that need the grass to survive a heavier fixture load than a natural pitch alone could take. Capacity sits under ten thousand, modest by design rather than by neglect — the ground was never rebuilt to chase a bigger average gate, just to bring an old sports centre up to a standard fit for regular competitive fixtures.
