Ligeti úti Sporttelep

The land was handed over to the town of Karcag, free of charge, in 1921 — that transfer, and not any construction date, is where the story of the site starts. The club that fills it, Karcagi SE, was founded in 1945 as Karcagi MTE, and worked through Karcagi SzSE, Karcagi ÖSZSE, Karcagi SC and Karcagi Sport Club before settling on the name it carries today.

Then, between 2022 and 2024, the old complex was taken apart. What replaced it is the Ligeti úti Sport- és Szabadidőközpont — a main building of 2,855 square metres carrying the stand and the dressing rooms, an indoor football court of 1,823 square metres, a separate administrative block of 821 square metres, a new running track, heat-pump heating and 50 kW of solar panels on the roofs. The rebuild cost between 9 and 9.5 billion forints, depending on whether the figure comes from the government or the mayor's office. The new complex opened officially on 6 July 2024.

The grass, at least, stayed grass.
