Městský stadion Vysoké Mýto

Vysoké Mýto, Czechia

Formerly: stadion u Loučné

Long before the municipal signs went up, people here knew the ground simply as stadion u Loučné. The name held through the changes that followed February 1948, when the local club was renamed TJ Spartak Karosa Vysoké Mýto. The stadium itself dates from that same period of reorganisation, though no precise year of opening survives in the record.

It has stayed public property ever since, run not by a club or a sponsor but by the town's own technical services. That is also why no naming rights ever attached to it — no company logo has ever replaced the municipal name it started with.

The one international fixture in its history came on 22 May 1971, when Belgium beat Wales 1-0 here in a match of the UEFA Junior Tournament. SK Vysoké Mýto, the home club, never reached the top flight of Czechoslovak or Czech football, so beyond that one afternoon the pitch has served regional football and athletics rather than the national game.

That dual use shaped the 2016 rebuild, costed at around 13.5 million koruna before VAT and part-funded — to the tune of 2.6 to 2.7 million koruna — through a state sports programme. The work went beyond the pitch itself: new drainage and irrigation for the grass, a resurfaced running track with its own water drainage, and rebuilt sectors for jumps and throws.
