The club opened the doors themselves, a group of enthusiasts who built the place as they built their team. The capacity sits at 4,021, a number that came from the redevelopment completed around 2016. Before that, the figure was closer to 3,000, which feels like the right number for a town this size. The playing surface is natural grass, cut short and marked with white lines that are visible even in the overcast weather. The club has a separate 3G pitch for the academy, but the main stage remains turf. The most famous day at the ground was not a record-breaking attendance, but a giant-killing victory against Cambridge United in the FA Cup. The crowd roared them on as they went for the jugular, and they won it 4–3. That is the sort of day that sticks in the memory, longer than any attendance record.
