Olajbányász Sporttelep
Nagykanizsa, Hungary
Formerly: Mező Ferenc Sportcentrum, Bányász Pálya
The stadium in Nagykanizsa is officially Olajbányász Sporttelep, but locals also know it as Mező Ferenc Sportcentrum.
The ground opened in 1964. FC Nagykanizsa play their home matches here, on a natural grass pitch.
Alongside it sits a second, smaller pitch used for training, laid with artificial turf on ground that used to be gravel. It is a modest addition, but it marks one of the few physical changes to the site in decades — the old training surface simply worn out and replaced rather than expanded upon.
With room for 7,000 spectators, the Olajbányász Sporttelep is not built for spectacle. It functions instead as the kind of ground a provincial club needs: unglamorous, unchanged in name disputes that plague bigger arenas, and still standing exactly where it was laid down in the 1960s.
