Robert-Schlienz-Stadion

Robert-Schlienz-Stadion is a stadium in Stuttgart.

The stadium opened its doors in 1982, originally under the name Amateur-Stadion, before being renamed in 1995 to honour the club’s long-serving legend, Robert Schlienz. It is an all-standing ground, a rarity in modern German football, and holds up to 5,000 spectators. The pitch itself was upgraded in 2022 with a hybrid grass system, replacing the natural turf that had served the youth teams for decades. Floodlights installed in 2001 brought the illumination up to 400 lux, allowing matches to be played under the lights for the first time.

Today the ground hosts VfB Stuttgart’s A and B youth teams , having previously welcomed the reserve side, VfB Stuttgart II, from 2016 until their move to the WIRmachenDRUCK Arena in 2024. The stadium has seen action in the DFB-Pokal for younger sides but has never hosted a senior professional final or an international fixture.

It is a place defined by its proximity to the big stadium, yet distinct in its purpose. The hybrid surface is modern, but the standing-only format keeps it grounded in tradition. A floodlight pole rises above the trees, a reminder of the evening matches that have taken place here since 2001.
