Rohto Field Nara

The grass here sits inside a running track, and that shapes everything the ground does. Each December the Nara Marathon starts and finishes on it, and long before Nara Club arrived the venue was built around athletics: the 39th National Sports Festival, the Wakakusa Kokutai, was staged in Nara the year after the stadium opened, and the layout has answered to that ever since. Renovation work by Odagumi was completed in February 2009, and later the same year the ground held the All Japan High School Track and Field Championships.

Football has come to Kōnoike in bursts rather than as a habit. In 1999 the stadium took matches in the FIFA Pokémon Cup Japan, with Santos and L.R. Vicenza among the sides. A settled tenant arrived only in 2023, when Nara Club entered the J3 League and made the ground its home from the club's first season in the division.

The name has changed more often than the tenants. It opened as Kōnoike Athletic Stadium and kept that name for three decades. In 2016 Rohto Pharmaceutical bought the naming rights and it became Rohto Field Nara, under a contract that ran to 31 March 2021. Rohto renewed for a second term, which expired on 31 March 2026. A third term began the following day, in April this year, and is set to run until 2036.
