Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadyumu
Samsun, Turkey
Formerly: Samsun Stadyumu (proposal), Samsun Arena (proposal)
The name was the fight. While the ground was still going up in Tekkeköy, there were proposals to call it Samsun Stadyumu or Samsun Arena . The stadium opened in July 2017 carrying the same name as the ground it replaced — the old 19 Mayıs Stadyumu , in use since 1975 and since demolished.
It went straight into a showpiece. The first competitive match on the pitch was the 2017 Turkish Super Cup, Beşiktaş against Konyaspor, and Konyaspor took it 2–1 in front of roughly 25,000. The same summer the ground hosted the opening ceremony of the Deaflympics.
The attendance record — 33,919 — was set against Galatasaray in February 2024, breaking a mark from the previous April against Ankara Keçiörengücü. Turkey have used the ground too: 28,766 for the Euro 2024 qualifier with Wales in June 2023, 28,829 for Montenegro in the UEFA Nations League the following October.
Bahadır Kul designed it; TOKİ built it.
