Sporthalle Weingartenschule

The Sporthalle Weingartenschule sits quietly at the heart of Kriftel, tucked away on the grounds of the local secondary school. Unlike the glass-fronted arenas that host city derbies, this venue is defined by its daily rhythm rather than grand occasions. It opened alongside the school in 1975, a date confirmed by the institution itself. The address is listed as Staufenstraße 14-20, though visitors might find themselves looking for Rossertstraße; the discrepancy likely points to a specific side entrance rather than a fundamental error.

What makes this space distinct is the intimacy of the sport played here. It is the home of TuS Kriftel’s volleyball squads, competing in the 2. Bundesliga Süd and the 3. Liga. The atmosphere is not one of roaring crowds but of focused concentration. The highest attendance recorded here was 600 spectators for a DVV-Pokal match against SVG Lüneburg in November 2024, a figure that speaks to the community’s engagement rather than a national spectacle. The capacity hovers around 650, a number that feels tight for a hall of this nature, keeping the players close to the action.

The hall is not reserved solely for ball games. On other days, the floor hosts Pilates and Qi Gong classes organized by the Kulturforum Kriftel, blending the energy of competitive sport with the calm of community fitness. Handball teams also utilise the space, often in cooperation with TV Hofheim. While the wooden floor is standard for such facilities, its specific condition is not explicitly documented. The venue has never undergone a name change, retaining its identity since the school celebrated its 50th anniversary. It is a place where the sport is played, not performed, serving the town with a consistency that outlasts trends.
