Sportpark De Bree-Oost

The ground in Scherpenzeel does not pretend to be anything other than a local hub. It sits on Eikenlaan, where the club VV Scherpenzeel plays its home games. The complex is not a single block but a collection of pitches. The main one is an artificial pitch, laid down when the complex reopened in 2009. Another field nearby keeps its natural grass, a reminder of the days before the renovation.

The stands are small. Sources disagree on whether there is room for 1,000 or 2,000 spectators, but the difference does not change the feeling of the place. The main stand is called 'De Wittenberg Tribune', a name given after the rebuild. The club, founded in 1918, does not hide its history, but it does not dress it up either.

This is where the team plays its cup matches. They have hosted games against local rivals like De Foresters and VV Hoogeveen. The club also used the pitch for promotion play-offs against SV HBC. There are no attendance records to boast about, and the year the original ground opened is lost to time. You cannot find a single fact about who built it or when the first ball was kicked on the grass.
