Stadion Feyenoord (de Kuip)

Rotterdammers call it De Kuip — the tub — and the shape came from Brinkman & Van der Vlugt. Building ran from 1935 to 1937, and the official opening followed on 27 March 1937.

For most of its life the ground held far more people than it does now. On 9 January 1966, Feyenoord against Ajax drew 65,562; two years later a match with Twente brought in 65,427. That era ended with the rebuild of 1993–94, which cost roughly 120 million guilders and turned the terraces into an all-seater with a capacity of 51,117.

The Red De Kuip plan would have pushed the ground to between 63,000 and 70,000 seats at a cost of 200 to 350 million euros.
