Stadionul Cetate

The most striking feature of Stadionul Cetate in Alba Iulia is its long tenure. Opened in 1982, it has been the home of CSM Unirea Alba Iulia since the first day. The track was rehabilitated in 2021 for 2.7 million lei, but it remains the most visible reminder that this is a multi-purpose facility.

The pitch itself has seen significant changes recently. While the surface is natural grass, the 2024 modernisation introduced rolled turf, automatic irrigation, and under-soil heating. The investment, reported to be around 2.4 million lei, was designed to make the ground viable for top-flight football. Before that, the club had to rely on a temporary mobile floodlight system installed in September 2024, as the stadium has no permanent lighting.
