Stadionul Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara
Hunedoara, Romania
Formerly: Stadionul Corvinul, Stadionul Michael Klein, Complexul Sportiv „Michael Klein”
In 1993, after Майкл Кляйн died on the pitch, the ground that had been Стадионул Корвинул since 1960 took his name. The ground became the Спортивный комплекс «Корвинул 1921 Хунедоара».
What the place is remembered for is compressed into a short stretch of the 1980s. On 9 March 1986 Корвинул beat Стяуа 3:1 in front of a reported 20,000 — several thousand more than the ground was built to hold, and the visitors went on to win the European Cup that season. In June 1986 came a 2:1 over Динамо Бухарест.
The national side used the ground twice in that era, including a friendly against Japan on 15 November 1983 that Romania won 3:1.
The Национальная инвестиционная компания has now earmarked more than 200 million lei for a new sports complex on the site.
