The history here is layered in the names. It was once Lugogo Stadium, then renamed to honour Philip Omondi. The current branding, StarTimes Stadium, is a temporary coat of paint on a structure that has stood since the late 1950s. What remains is the function. It is a working venue for clubs like KCCA FC and Police FC, a place where matches are played with a sense of routine rather than spectacle.

The capacity is a subject of shifting definitions. Some sources claim it holds a few thousand, while others suggest it could accommodate up to ten thousand. The reality seems to lie somewhere in between, depending on whether you count the standing areas or the permanent seating. The drainage on the pitch has been a recurring issue, turning simple rain into a logistical problem for the teams who play there.

It is also a venue for other things. The annual Blankets & Wine music festival brings a different kind of crowd to the stands. The atmosphere changes from the focused intensity of a local derby to the chaotic noise of a concert. It has hosted international cricket and the CECAFA Cup, but these events do not define the daily life of the stadium. The ground is simply there, a concrete and turf rectangle in the middle of a busy city.
