The ground stands apart in Seremban because it holds a track. The terrace in the photograph shows a red running circuit that separates the crowd from the pitch, a feature that keeps spectators at a distance from the touchline and changes the shape of a match day. It is not a bowl; it is an enclosure with a boundary that circles the field before the stands begin.

The stadium is named for the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia. It was built in 1992, but its modern form comes from a rebuild for the 2004 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) that lifted the capacity to 45,000. That expansion made it the largest stadium in Peninsular Malaysia's southern region at the time. The turf is natural grass, which the club has played on since it was founded.

It is the home of Negeri Sembilan FC, and the history between them adds an edge to the fixture. The ground has hosted international matches too. Syria played here in 2018 for their World Cup qualifiers, and the Malaysian national team has held friendlies against the Philippines and Singapore in recent years. The pitch is being prepared for a change of surface to Zeon Zoysia grass to comply with Malaysia Football League regulations.
