Ulinga Oval

The site Ulinga Oval sits at the end of Cross Street in Cardiff South, tucked inside the City of Lake Macquarie council area. It carries a history that stretches back further than the current club that calls it home. For a short period between 2013 and 2015, the ground hosted Newcastle Jets Youth for National Premier Leagues Northern NSW fixtures, a time when the emerging side carved out a reputation on the local circuit.

The pitch itself is natural grass, described by the council simply as a grassed sports area. There are four fields in total, all fitted with floodlights, allowing play to extend into the evening hours. The venue’s capacity is a matter of some debate. While one source lists the figure at 350, the majority of records, including those from Transfery.info and Netscores, place it at 1,000. No attendance record has been established that stands out from the ordinary.

Today, the ground serves as the base for South Cardiff FC, formerly known as the South Cardiff Gunners. It is also known by the name Jack Neaves Oval or the Ulinga Complex. A notable match here saw South Cardiff secure a 2–1 victory over the Jets Youth side in April 2013. The site has not seen grand finals or concerts, remaining a working ground for league play. The exact year it was built remains uncertain, with no definitive records found.
