USW Sports Park

The ground has no street number. USW Sports Park stands on Treforest Industrial Estate and belongs to the University of South Wales rather than to any club that plays there.

Pontypridd Town — later renamed Pontypridd United — arrived for the 2017/18 season, and not by choice. Their previous home, Ynysangharad Park, failed the Football Association of Wales criteria required for promotion, and rebuilding it was not an option: the park is a memorial, and that status closed off the work.

What it offers is modest. The pitch used for matches is 3G, and the stands are portable — one of roughly 75 places, one covered for 200. The remainder of the 1,000 capacity is standing, which is why the headline figure and the seat count sit so far apart.

Refereeing courses for women were running on the site in January and February 2016; by March 2017 it was building what was reported as the first indoor 3G pitch in Wales, and the First Minister of Wales opened the extended facility in January 2018. Nothing structural has changed since, and the stated capacity has not moved.

Most of what happens here is training and student football: BUCS league matches, university research showcases, and sessions for visiting professionals including Cardiff City and the British Lions rugby squad. Concerts and festivals go to Ynysangharad Park instead.
