Victor Lossev Football Stadium

Murom, Russia

Formerly: Stadium of the Park of the 50th Anniversary of Soviet Power, City Stadium

Murom does not have a great deal to boast about in football, and this ground reflects that honestly rather than dressing it up. It sits inside the Park of the 50th Anniversary of Soviet Power, a name that outlived the era it was struck for and stuck to the place long after the stadium itself was renamed. Opened in 1967 alongside the park, it carried a plain municipal identity for decades — first as the park's own stadium, then simply the City Stadium — before a 2017 reconstruction gave it the name it holds now, honouring Olympic champion Viktor Losev.

The artificial pitch was relaid in 2018, when the old LigaTurf surface reached the end of its working life and was swapped for a new one of the same type. There is no grand history of tenants passing through: FC Murom has called it home since 2014, and before 1975 it hosted matches of the regional Vladimir Oblast championship, back when the ground served a wider, looser purpose than housing one club. These days the fixture list runs to the Vladimir Oblast cup and the odd friendly, a modest rota that suits a stadium built for a city rather than for a competition.

There is nothing here pretending to be more than it is: a park stadium that changed its name once its city decided it had earned one.
