Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. owns the ground it plays on. The name changed that same year, back from Júbilo Iwata Stadium to the shorter Yamaha Stadium — the third title the ground has carried since it opened as Yamaha Higashiyama Stadium in 1978.

The playing surface is Tifton grass, a warm-season Bermuda variety, overseeded with cool-season ryegrass through the winter to hold its condition; the perimeter and track areas around it are artificial turf.

The capacity has moved in both directions. Expansions in 1985 and again in 1994/1995 took it to 19,000, and the record attendance belongs to that period: 17,543 for the visit of Shimizu S-Pulse on 9 November 1996, a J.League match Júbilo won 2–1. The 2013 renovation put a new south stand behind one of the goals and brought the official figure down to 15,165.

The redevelopment of 1993/1994 was the one that mattered for competition: it brought the ground up to J.League standard. In 2003 it staged the Emperor's Cup final, Kashima Antlers beating Kyoto Purple Sanga. Larger finals go elsewhere — the National Stadium, Saitama Stadium — and Iwata keeps the league fixtures.
