Jong Ajax played out a goalless draw against Roda in the Eerste Divisie on Friday evening. The match finished 0:0 after nine minutes of injury time. Both sides had little to show for their efforts despite controlling possession at different stages.
There were no goals, only five yellow cards and plenty of substitutions. Fouad Zahouani collected the first booking in the third minute, followed by Mark Verkuijl at thirteen and Dario Van Den Buijs seventeen minutes in. Ryan van de Pavert went off for a yellow in the forty-eighth, and Dyon Dorenbosch joined him just before the final whistle.
The statistics tell a similar story. Jong Ajax held 52 per cent possession but created no big chances. Roda managed the same with 48 per cent. Both sides shot with roughly twenty per cent accuracy. Three shots on target for the hosts yielded nothing, and Roda's two on target produced the same result.
Jong Ajax came into this match having lost their previous two fixtures. They had been beaten 6-1 by Jong Utrecht and 2-0 by Valerwijk. Roda, meanwhile, had picked up a win and a draw in their last two games against Vitesse and MVV Maastricht. The result leaves the visitors seven points from the top half and the hosts still rooted in sixteenth place with seven points from eight games.
