C.J. Stroud Shrugs Off Criticism Before Texans Season
The Houston quarterback says pressure is a privilege after a rough 2025 campaign led the club to pause contract extension talks.
C.J. Stroud says he is unbothered by the criticism heading into his fourth season with the Houston Texans, after a poor 2025 led the club to shelve extension talks.
Stroud played 14 games last season, throwing for 3,041 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He threw four interceptions in the play-off loss to New England. After two seasons in which he failed to repeat the form of his rookie year, Houston chose not to negotiate a new contract during the 2026 campaign.
"People love to criticise. That's part of life. I'm in the entertainment business, so criticism is inevitable. But I have the chance to go out there and play, and nobody can take that away from me."
His current contract runs through the end of the 2027 season.
