Josh Allen, Brock Purdy Named NFL Offensive Players of Week 2
Bills QB Josh Allen took the AFC honor and 49ers QB Brock Purdy the NFC award, as the NFL named its Week 2 players of the week on offense, defense and special teams.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen and 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy were named the NFL's offensive players of the week for Week 2.
Allen took the AFC award after Buffalo's 41-31 win over the Detroit Lions. He threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 69 yards and two more scores. Purdy claimed the NFC award for San Francisco's 35-13 win over the Miami Dolphins. He completed 20 of 22 passes (90.9%) for 287 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensive honours went to Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Hezekiah Masses and Carolina Panthers linebacker Devin Lloyd. Masses made five tackles, broke up two passes and intercepted two in a 26-14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Lloyd had nine tackles, two for a loss, a sack, a quarterback hit, three pass breakups and two interceptions in a 34-3 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Cleveland Browns kicker Andre Szmyt was the AFC special teams player. He went 3 for 3 on field goals, one from 50 yards or more, and added two extra points, 11 points in all, in a 23-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Minnesota Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rodgers took the NFC award for blocking a field goal in a 9-3 win over the Chicago Bears.
