Mahomes Set to Start for Chiefs in Week 1 Opener
Andy Reid says Patrick Mahomes will likely start at quarterback against Denver, his first game since tearing knee ligaments in December.
Andy Reid said Patrick Mahomes will most likely start at quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
"There's a very good chance Patrick will start if nothing happens over the next couple of days. He's most likely the one who will play," Reid said.
Mahomes tore the ACL and LCL in his left knee in mid-December. In July, the two-time MVP was cleared by doctors to take part fully in training camp and has not missed a session since.
"He has shown everything that was needed. He hasn't missed a day. Apart from the brace on his leg, everything looks normal. He moves the same way he always has, and he throws the ball the same way he always has," Reid said.
The game against Denver, the reigning AFC West champion, will be Mahomes's first since the injury.
