Antonio Brown to accept plea deal and avoid prison in Miami case
The former NFL wide receiver will plead to aggravated assault and get straight probation, his lawyer says, instead of risking up to 30 years on attempted murder.
Antonio Brown plans to accept a plea deal on the attempted murder charge he faces in Miami, and it will keep him out of prison, his lawyer said on Wednesday. He is due in court next Wednesday to make the deal final. On the current charge he could have faced up to 30 years.
Under the deal Brown would plead to aggravated assault. Eiglarsh told ESPN it means "straight probation": no prison, no jail, no house arrest, no fines and no community service. There is no alcohol, drug or psychological evaluation and no letter of apology. Brown must stay away from the victim.

Brown, 38, is accused of taking a handgun from a member of security after a celebrity boxing match in Miami in May 2025. According to an arrest warrant, he then fired two shots at a man he had fought earlier. Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu told investigators that one bullet grazed his neck. Nantambu's attorney, Richard L Cooper, said this month that his client has forgiven Brown and would no longer take part in the case.
The former wide receiver, a Miami native, played 12 NFL seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If the court accepts the plea next week, the case ends without a trial.
