About the player
Alex Souza built his senior career away from home, starting out in Lithuania with FC Hegelmann, where he scored eight goals in 45 appearances between 2021 and 2023. A move to Turkey with Boluspor followed, but he managed only three appearances without scoring before returning to Hegelmann the same year.
Joining Turan Tovuz on a free transfer, he settled into a prolific spell, scoring 16 goals in 65 appearances over two seasons. That form led to his move to Japan and Kyoto Sanga, a transfer reported as a free move by most outlets tracking the deal.
Souza, full name Alex Aparecido de Souza Alcântara, is also known as Alex Negueba.
