About the player
Alfio Oviedo began his career at Independiente de Campo Grande, where in 2016 he finished as top scorer of the División Intermedia with 20 goals and helped the club to promotion. A year later, back at Rubio Ñu for the Apertura, he added 11 more, and by mid-2017 Cerro Porteño had signed him permanently.
A loan to Newell's Old Boys in Argentina followed in 2018, though it yielded only one goal in ten appearances before he returned to Cerro Porteño. He returned to Cerro Porteño on loan in 2019, before the club took him on again permanently in 2023.
In 2024 he left Paraguay for Bolívar in Bolivia, scoring 9 goals in 23 appearances and winning the Bolivian División Profesional title. He joined Tigre as a free agent in January 2025; the club renewed his contract in December 2025 through to the end of 2026, with a purchase option attached.
He debuted in a friendly against Mexico on 1 July 2017, and his second appearance came years later during qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
