About the player
Finley Barbrook came through Colchester United's own youth ranks before moving on to Ipswich Town's academy in 2021, signing his first professional contract there in 2023. Rather than being fast-tracked into the first team, he was farmed out on a string of loans to gain experience, and it was at Sutton United in 2024–25 that he made his mark: 33 league appearances and two goals were enough for him to be named both the club's Players' Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year. He had captained Ipswich's under-21 side and was named the club's Academy Player of the Year for 2023–24.
A brief loan at Lincoln City in September 2025 yielded only cup football before he returned to Ipswich in January 2026. That same month he moved to Colchester United on loan, the club where his career had begun, taking the number 25 shirt. He went on to make 16 League Two appearances for Colchester and scored once. His senior debut for Ipswich itself had come only a few months earlier, in the EFL Cup in August 2025.
Barbrook has since joined Falkirk. He has yet to win a major senior honour.
