José Ignacio González Catalán

Ignacio González came through Colo-Colo's youth ranks, forming there for seven years before senior football arrived away from the club that raised him. His first taste of professional football came on loan at Deportes Puerto Montt in 2011, where he made his debut in February and went on to play 16 matches. He returned to Colo-Colo afterwards, but stayed in the shadow of the club's senior goalkeepers, appearing there as third or fourth choice. He did pick up a Primera División title with Colo-Colo in the Torneo de Transición 2012, even without being first choice.

His path to regular first-team football ran through smaller clubs. At Deportes Copiapó he built a reputation from the penalty spot, saving seven of nine penalties he faced. The clearest high point of his career came later, at Deportes Antofagasta, where in 2021 he was named Sofascore's best goalkeeper in Latin America, finishing the year with an average rating of 7.18 and ten clean sheets in 29 matches.

González was also pre-selected for the Chile national team under coach Martín Lasarte, though a senior cap never followed. His career since has taken him through Deportes O'Higgins before he joined Everton de Viña del Mar, where he now wears the number one shirt.
