About the player
Jari De Busser is remembered at Go Ahead Eagles for a single night: the 2025 KNVB Cup final against AZ Alkmaar. He is widely celebrated as the hero of that final.
De Busser came through the youth ranks at K. Noordstar VV and KSK Heist before joining the Lierse SK academy, where he stayed until 2017 and made his senior debut that October. A move to K.A.A. Gent followed in 2018, though he did not make a league appearance there. He found regular football again at Lommel SK from 2020, establishing himself as first-choice goalkeeper.
He arrived at Go Ahead Eagles on a free transfer in August 2024, signing a three-year contract and wearing the number 1 shirt. In June 2026 he moved to AZ Alkmaar in a €4 million deal, signing until 2031. He wears number 28 there.
De Busser has not yet been capped by the Belgium senior national team.
