Joaquin Tobio Burgos

Joaquín Tobio Burgos grew up in Chascomús, in Buenos Aires province, where he started out at his hometown club, Club Atlético Chascomús. Trials followed at River Plate and Argentinos Juniors, but it was Estudiantes de La Plata who took him into their youth ranks in 2022. He worked his way up through the club's junior sides and finished as top scorer for the reserve team with seven goals in the 2024 season, a return that earned him a place in the first-team squad and his first professional contract that August.

His debut, on 7 October 2024 against Banfield under coach Eduardo Domínguez, could hardly have gone better: he scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory. He held onto his place from there, becoming a regular starter through the 2025 and 2026 seasons. In the 2026 Liga Profesional campaign he started all 17 of his appearances, scoring once and setting up three further goals, and he has also featured prominently in the Copa Libertadores, including against Corinthians, Universidad Católica and Gimnasia LP.

Tobio Burgos has collected a run of honours with Estudiantes: the Trofeo de Campeones de la Liga Profesional in 2024 and 2025, the Copa de la Liga Profesional in 2025, and the Torneo Clausura title the same year, when the final against Racing Club went to penalties after a 1-1 draw and Tobio converted his spot-kick in the shootout. Off the pitch, he became the first footballer to receive the Osborne de Oro, an award given to the best athlete from Chascomús, at the end of 2024.

A left winger by trade despite playing on his left foot, he has built his game around chance creation rather than pure goalscoring, noted for his crossing and his eye for a pass to teammates.
