Kaito Matsuzawa

Kaito Matsuzawa's route to professional football ran through education rather than a traditional academy. He played for Fuji Municipal High School before continuing his studies and football at Nagoya University of Economics, and in March 2023 he signed for V-Varen Nagasaki as a free agent straight from university.

He made his J.League debut against Montedio Yamagata on 22 July 2023, and a week later, on 29 July, scored his first professional goal against Roasso Kumamoto. Over two and a half seasons at Nagasaki he made 63 appearances in the J2 League, scoring four goals.

In June 2025, Matsuzawa completed a permanent move to Sint-Truiden in Belgium, taking him out of the J2 League and into European football. He has since made 32 league appearances for the Belgian club, scoring twice.

He has not been capped by Japan at senior level, nor is there any record of representative football at youth level, and he has yet to pick up a major individual award or team honour at any stage of his career.
