About the player
Paige Metayer's route to the NWSL ran through the University of California, where she made 89 appearances for the Golden Bears between 2018 and 2022, scoring nine goals from the back and midfield. She went undrafted in the 2023 NWSL Draft, joined the Washington Spirit as a non-roster invitee for preseason and, on 8 March 2023, signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth. She never played professionally before that deal, having gone straight from college into the league.
At Washington Spirit, Metayer plays as a right back or in midfield. Before college, she grew up in Irvine, California, attending University High School and playing youth soccer for So Cal Blues in the Elite Clubs National League.
Metayer is eligible to represent the United States but has not featured for any senior or youth national team.
