About the player
Taiga Hata signed his first professional contract with Shonan Bellmare in February 2020, straight after finishing at Ichiritsu Funabashi High School, whose youth football had already earned him call-ups to Japan's junior national teams. He went on to make 128 J1 League appearances for Shonan Bellmare between 2020 and 2025.
On 4 July 2025 he moved to Sint-Truiden on a three-year deal, with the fee undisclosed. Since then he has settled into the Belgian Pro League, making 32 appearances for STVV and scoring once.
Internationally, Hata has moved through Japan's age-group sides without yet breaking into the senior team. He collected 13 caps for the under-17s, including a place at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup, before adding appearances for the under-21s, under-22s and under-23s in the years that followed.
