Vic Chambaere

Union Saint-Gilloise's goalkeeper came through the KRC Genk academy. Chambaere had signed with Genk in 2016 after starting out at WS Lauwe and moving through KV Kortrijk, but for most of his time there he was farmed out to Jong Genk in the Challenger Pro League, making just four appearances across two seasons. By 2023–24 he was registered as Genk's third-choice goalkeeper. That came only after he left, joining Union Saint-Gilloise on a free transfer in June 2024 and signing a contract to 2027.

His senior debut arrived in the 2025 Belgian Super Cup, a 1–2 defeat to Club Brugge, and he took over as first choice once Anthony Moris departed. Chambaere was part of the Union squad that won the 2024–25 Belgian Pro League, ending a 90-year wait for the title, and he later added the 2025–26 Belgian Cup after Union beat Anderlecht 3–1 in the final, though he was frequently an unused substitute during that run.

The moment that defines his time at Union so far came against his former club. In the 94th minute of a Champions' Play-offs match against Genk in April 2025, with Union leading 2–1, Chambaere threw a second ball onto the pitch to halt a Genk attack. The Belgian Football Federation's disciplinary committee handed him a six-match ban, four of them immediate, and fined him €5,000. He has represented Belgium at every youth level from U15 to U20, without yet earning a senior cap.
