Al-Duhail

Doha's derby fixture list still reads Al Sadd on the calendar first, and Al-Duhail arrives at each meeting expecting to win it.

The name is only nine years old. What plays under it goes back to 1938, when the Internal Security Forces founded Al-Shorta, the Police Club — the oldest football side in the country. It became Lekhwiya in 2009, and on 10 April 2017 Lekhwiya absorbed El Jaish to form Al-Duhail. The silverware since has mostly gone to the merged entity: four Emir of Qatar Cups, four Qatar Cups.

Michael Olunga's 75 league goals sit atop the club's scoring charts. Almoez Ali captains the side now and has topped the AFC Champions League scoring list, one of several academy graduates — Ismaeel Mohammad and Edmilson Junior among them — who came through the club's own system rather than arriving on transfers.

Red and navy blue, and a nickname — the Red Knights — that has outlasted two of the club's three names. Home is the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, built in 2013 inside the Internal Security Forces complex.
