Al Kahrabaa

Al-Kahrabaa go into the Iraqi Stars League, a runners-up medal in the Iraq FA Cup from 2019 and again from 2022. Their sharpest recent form came in 2022–23, when they finished fifth, matching a mark first set in 2017–18.

Orange runs through the home kit because the side was set up by the Ministry of Electricity together with Saad Abdul Hamed Al-Khatib. They play out of the 2,000-seat Al-Kahrabaa Stadium, though AFC Cup fixtures and other restrictions have sent them as far as Karbala's International Stadium.

That 2022 cup final also sharpened the club's local rivalry: it was Al-Karkh, from the district across the river, who beat them 2–1 to lift the trophy. Amanat Baghdad is the other name that raises the temperature.

The academy has done more for the club's name than any final. Ali Jasim came through it, scored ten league goals in the 2021–23 spell that delivered that fifth-place finish, and moved on to Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya before Serie A side Como 1907 signed him; he is now a regular for the Iraq national team.

Al-Kahrabaa were better known with a basketball in hand: the club's basketball section won the Iraqi Basketball Premier League in 2005–06 and again in 2012–13, silverware the football side, founded in July 2001, has yet to match.
