Bihor Oradea

Oradea's football club grew out of a shoe factory. Crișul Oradea took shape in 1958, and two years later merged with the workforce of Solidaritatea, the city's footwear plant — ASA Crișul, Fotbal Club Bihor, later FC Oradea and FC Bihor Oradea.

The best of those years belonged to the 1980s. The club won its regional Divizia B group twice, in 1982 and 1988, and in 1989 reached the final of the Cupa României, where Steaua București beat them. Corneliu Georgescu carried that era on the pitch, 347 appearances and 96 goals in a Bihor shirt.

None of it saved the club from itself. On 12 January 2016, FC Bihor Oradea was declared bankrupt and dissolved. The city did not stay without a team for long. On 28 July 2022, a new association backed by Oradea's municipality and Bihor county rebuilt the club from Liga III, with former forward Sándor Kulcsár as its first president. The new side won the Liga III group in 2022–23 and again in 2023–24, the second title under coach Erik Lincar, who took the team up into Liga II.

Home games are played at Stadionul Iuliu Bodola, once able to hold more than 30,000 people before seating replaced the terraces and cut capacity down. The team plays in red and blue, known in Romania as Roș-albaștrii, and its old local rival remains CA Oradea, the fixture still spoken of in the city as the derby of Oradea.
