«Naranja Costeña»
Estadio Glorias Costeñas holds 4,000 people, which in Bluefields, the capital of the South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region, is a large crowd. The municipal ground is also known as Estadio Municipal de Fútbol de Bluefields.
Bluefields, nicknamed Naranja Costeña and playing in orange and blue, came into being in 1997 and reached the Primera División de Nicaragua, the top tier. It stayed there until the 2008/09 season. Then the money ran short, and the club dropped into the lower divisions. It never won a national league title or a cup. Félix Rodríguez, Rudel Calero and José Armando Reyes Alvarado all began here before moving up to the top division. Real Estelí and Diriangén FC are among the clubs that took players from the coast.
The gap lasted until 2021, when the mayor, Gustavo Castro Jo, took the initiative to bring the club back. It re-entered national football at the bottom of the senior ladder, in the Tercera División. Promotion to the Segunda División came on 12 June 2022, within a year of the return. In the 2023-24 season the team played in Group D of the Segunda División and finished fourth.
