«Boll Weevils»
Hud Jackson coached the Boll Weevils for fourteen seasons, from 2011 to 2025. That fixture is the "Battle of the Timberlands," the meeting with Southern Arkansas that dates back to 1913, two years after Arkansas–Monticello first fielded a football team. Southern Arkansas still leads it, 62 wins to 37 with one tie.
The programme has had better runs elsewhere. It won the Lamar Trophy, the NAIA Division II national championship, six times, and took the Continental Football League title in 1968, 1975 and 1980. Playoff berths followed in 1988 and 1993, though a national title has not come since the switch to NCAA Division II and the Great American Conference. Jalen Tolliver went on to the NFL and the CFL, and Charley Steed was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1946.
Home games are played at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium.
