«Britons»
Albion College has fielded a football team since 1884, and the name follows from the college's own: Albion is an old Celtic word for Britain, so the players became Britons. The purple and gold have stayed with them since.
Steve Wasil , the 2005 MIAA Offensive MVP, went on to play in the Arena Football League, and Frank Joranko , MIAA MVP in 1951, stayed on at Albion afterward as coach and athletic director. Chris Greenwood carried the college's name into the NFL with the Detroit Lions.
Thirty-six MIAA titles, one of them capped by a national championship.
