The Vaslui Municipal Stadium holds 9,240 seats. CSM Vaslui, the yellow-and-greens rebuilt by the Vaslui Municipality in the summer of 2018, plays there as a phoenix club.

That tradition belonged to FC Vaslui, born in 2002 when Victoria Galați relocated and took the city's name. Under Adrian Porumboiu, a businessman and former FIFA referee, the club rose fast: promotion to Liga I in 2005, a Cupa României final lost to CFR Cluj on penalties in 2010, and a runners-up finish in Liga I in 2011–12, again behind CFR Cluj, in the same season the team reached the UEFA Europa League group stage.

A supporters' side, ASS FC Vaslui, kept a team on the pitch in Liga IV until the municipal club took over in 2018. Since then CSM Vaslui has rebuilt from the bottom, winning Liga V for Vaslui County in 2021–22 and Liga IV for the county in both 2020–21 and 2022–23.
