Fazendense

Fazendas de Almeirim is a small town in the Ribatejo, and it was there, in 1978, that Associação Desportiva Fazendense took shape, giving the town a side to carry its name through the district leagues. The badge has stayed yellow and black ever since, and the club is known locally simply as Os Fazendenses.

The path through Portuguese football's lower tiers has run in both directions. Fazendense reached the Terceira Divisão in 1996, only to drop back down in the 2004/05 season; a second attempt at promotion in 2007/08 ended the same way, lost in the relegation play-offs. What has held steady is the club's grip on regional silverware: the Taça do Ribatejo, contested among the clubs of the Santarém football association, has come back to Fazendas de Almeirim six times, in 1999, 2000, 2004, 2011, 2019 and 2022. The 2022 final was won on penalties, against Abrantes e Benfica.

Fazendense won the Campeonato Distrital da 1.ª Divisão da AF Santarém and beat Moçarriense 2-0 to lift the Taça do Ribatejo again, a double that sends the club up to the Campeonato de Portugal. Matches against União de Almeirim, the Dérbi de Almeirim, remain the fixture locals circle first, but this season the club had bigger games to think about.

There is no grand name attached to Fazendense's history, no academy graduate who went on to make headlines elsewhere. The club runs its affairs through a SportEasy page rather than a website of its own.
