FC Nakskov

On 1 July that year, Nakskov Boldklub and Boldklubben Velo merged into FC Nakskov, folding a rivalry that had run since Velo's own founding in 1927 into a single side wearing Nakskov Boldklub's blue and white.

What the new club inherited was mostly memory. Nakskov Boldklub had reached the fourth spot in the 2nd Division in 1978, losing out on promotion by goal difference alone, and that same year the team ran to the quarter-finals of the Danish Cup, beating OB 3-2 before falling to B 1903. It also produced Jørgen Nielsen, a goalkeeper who left for Liverpool in 1997 after being named Denmark's goalkeeper of the year.

FC Nakskov has needed a decade to match the ambition of that old side. The predecessor club won promotion to the Danmarksserien, the fifth tier, back in 2008; FC Nakskov only returned the town to that level in 2026. Locally, the fixture that still matters is against Nykøbing FC in the Sjællandsserien, spoken of simply as the lokalopgør rather than dressed up with a derby name.
