«VV Hoogeveen»
The one Dutch amateur championship VV Hoogeveen has ever taken came on a Sunday pitch, in 1978. Two Noordelijke Districtsbeker wins followed, in 1980 and again in 2008.
Hoogeveen's conservative town council forbade football on Sundays, so the side, founded on 29 April 1930 as Hoogeveense Boys before taking its present name in 1943, had to travel to Ruinen for home matches until 1969, when it finally settled at Sportpark Bentinckspark.
The ground still holds 6,000, split between 500 seats and 500 standing under cover. Promotion to the Derde Divisie arrived in 2022–23 after winning the Vierde Divisie, but the stay lasted one season: a 16th-place finish in Derde Divisie A sent VV Hoogeveen into the play-offs, where Rohda Raalte ended the run and sent them back down.
Gersom Klok gave the club one of its sharper recent moments with a goal against his former side FC Emmen in the KNVB Cup in 2025.
