He saved a penalty; the match against Jodan Boys finished 1–1. His son Joe later came through the same academy and into the senior side.

The club has never changed its name since it was set up in Noordwijk on 4 March 1933, and it has never moved: Sportpark Duinwetering has been the ground from the start. What changed was the ground itself. A rebuild across 2014 and 2015 brought it up to the standard the higher divisions demand, and artificial turf went down on the main pitch the following year.

The strongest years came early enough that few now remember them first-hand — overall amateur champions of the Netherlands in 1973 and again in 1980. More recent supporters date things from the Derde Divisie title in 2019, which carried the club up into the semi-professional Tweede Divisie.

The cup has been kinder. Noordwijk reached the quarter-finals of the KNVB Beker in 2010/11, losing to RKC Waalwijk, and got there a second time in 2024/25 before Go Ahead Eagles put them out — no other amateur club has managed it twice.

Red and white gave the team one of its nicknames, De Roodwitten; the other, De Noortukkers, came from the local carnival association and is used as readily by opponents as by the home crowd. Those opponents are close by.
