Lahti Basketball

Namika Lahti, the club that had carried Lahti's basketball name since 1898 and won a Korisliiga title as recently as 2009, folded in 2015. Within months Martin Mustonen and Kari Härkönen had put together a successor, and Lahti Basketball took the floor that August with the same city and the same crowd.

The new club spent its early years working back up the divisions before winning the I Divisioona A title in the 2024–25 season, a promotion that returned top-flight basketball to Lahti for 2025–26 after relegation from the Korisliiga the year before.

That overlap runs through Vesa Mäkäläinen, an academy product of the old Namika system who went on to play for Lahti Basketball as well, having already been named Korisliiga Finals MVP in 2009 and had his number retired by the club he grew up in.

Home games are played in black and white under the nickname LaBa, and the Kymenlaakso derby against Kouvot, with KTP-Basket of Kotka providing the other regional edge, is a fixture on the calendar. Captain Erik Sajantila is the man supporters point to now.
