Ludwigshafen

Die Eulen Ludwigshafen spent most of the 2010s moving between the two Bundesligas, and got promoted three times over — 2010, 2014 and 2017 — winning the second-tier title twice along the way, in 2009/10 and 2013/14, before relegation pulled them back down in 2011, 2015 and 2021.

The handball side traces back further than the club's modern name suggests. It grew out of Turnverein Friesenheim, a gymnastics club founded in 1881, and under that lineage the handball team — then TV Friesenheim — was German field handball champion in 1929 and 1930. The department that carries the name today took shape later, with a growth spurt in 1974.

Between those two eras sits a single domestic cup: the Pfalzpokal, won in 1995.

Home games are played in front of 2,500 at the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, in red and white. Christian Dissinger came through the club's youth ranks before going on to become a full German international.

No fixture on the calendar carries more weight than the one against Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
