Majosi

A name that once appeared on Hungary's national team teamsheet doesn't often turn up in transfer talks with a club whose ground holds a few hundred people, but that is where Máté Vida stood in the summer of 2026: the former international, a Vasas academy product, in discussions with Majosi SE of Bonyhád, in Tolna county.

The club had already given people reason to take notice. In the 2025/26 season, Majosi reached the last 32 of the Magyar Kupa for the first time in its history, beating Gödöllői SK, winners of the Amateur Cup, along the way, before running into Videoton in the last sixteen.

The pitch behind that run sits in Majos, the district of Bonyhád that gave the club its name when it was founded in 1964 as Majosi Aranykalász SE. Majosi Sportpálya holds 600, eighty of them seated, a scale that made the cup run mean more locally than the result alone suggests.

Majosi now plays in NB III, the third tier, Southwest group, a level that has taken it out of the orbit of its oldest rival. Bonyhád VLC shares the city, and games between the two were long known as the Völgységi derbi; since Majosi's rise, Bonyhád VLC has found its closer contest instead in Tevel Medosz SE. Within the Tolna county championship Majosi left behind, the club won three titles, the first in 2012/13, the most recent in 2021/22.

None of that explains why a player who once wore Hungary's shirt was talking to a club this size. But alongside two other academy products who joined that year, Kristóf Lépő from Paks and MTK, and Máté Grausza from Paks, Vida's name is the one people in Bonyhád keep repeating.
